The Goliath in the pool
Have you ever met a Goliath? The Bible tells about the shepherd boy David, who offered to fight Goliath of Gath, a giant of a man. See I Sam. 17:32-50 . David had only a sling and five stones from the brook, which certainly didn't seem like much of a weapon against such a powerful man who was dressed for battle.
If you've heard or read this Bible story, you already know what happened. David brought down Goliath with only one stone! Everyone thought David was very brave—and he was—but do you know why? It was because David had a wonderful trust in God. He was sure that God was with him, protecting him and making him able to do what God had for him to do. He knew God would give him the victory.
Maybe you're wondering what this has to do with you. After all, you don't see many giants around today. But maybe Goliaths don't always look like huge men dressed for war. A Goliath might be some scary thought, or something you have to do that seems impossible.
