Look in the mirror!

Do so, and your own image looks back at you. The image can do nothing of itself; it faithfully reflects you.

The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, offers a helpful comparison: "Your mirrored reflection is your own image or likeness. If you lift a weight, your reflection does this also. If you speak, the lips of this likeness move in accord with yours. Now compare man before the mirror to his divine Principle, God. Call the mirror divine Science, and call man the reflection. Then note how true, according to Christian Science, is the reflection to its original. As the reflection of yourself appears in the mirror, so you, being spiritual, are the reflection of God." Science and Health, pp. 515–516.

Through a correct understanding of our identity as reflection— certain aspects of which are brought out by the analogy of the mirror—we can discern our total dependence on God for consciousness, beauty, action, life itself. Because the real man is the complete image of his complete creator, God, he is endowed with all the spiritual qualities that infinity includes. As we gain a clearer understanding of this divine fact, we find that we can express more of God's nature. The perfect Principle, God, revealed in the perfect mirror, Science, must forever be reflected by the perfect image, spiritual man. This fact is demonstrable in terms of spiritual growth.
