I wish to express my deep gratitude for a healing I had about fifteen years ago. At the time I was working for a neighboring city, and for several weeks I suffered from a growing weakness. Also, my feet and legs would become swollen during the day.

Through prayer and study of the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I endeavored to overcome this difficulty. Also, at various times I called on a Christian Science practitioner for help. A quotation from the Bible comforted me (Isa. 41:10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

Yet despite all our efforts, the problem just didn't seem to lift. Finally I felt that I couldn't go on working until the trouble had been healed. So I asked for a month's leave of absence, without pay, from the city council. They said that I would have to have a doctor's examination before they could grant me a leave. I went to the doctor who did examinations for the city. He didn't tell me what the problem was, but he told my supervisor that there was a problem with my blood, and that I could very well die if I didn't put myself under medical care.
