Home

Many of us have longed to have a home of our own with the sense of privacy, individuality, and stability a home may provide. For various reasons, such as the national economy or some personal circumstance, this desire is not always fulfilled. Yet the Apostle Paul promised, "God shall supply all your need," Phil. 4:19. evidently meaning that God can provide for us regardless of restricting human conditions.

The assumption that phases of national or personal limitation need interfere with our demonstration of God's abundant giving is counterproductive. Such a conjecture can be replaced in Christian Science with the understanding that man is actually God's image and likeness, and that because God is unlimited, His image is unlimited. Practical evidence of God's outpouring goodness will be seen as our thoughts come into harmony with the spiritual fact. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind." Science and Health, p. 162.

This change is not merely a matter of changing negative material thinking to positive material thinking. It requires prayer that protests against material limitations as unreal and acknowledges spiritual reality as well as the fact that God, Truth, is supplying our human needs. Christ Jesus said, "Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." Matt. 6:8.
