I was boating on Lake Erie with my mom and dad and wanted to swim all the way to an island I could see. I told my mom I knew I could do it and she said to try. We swam together and I said, "Keep on going until we can touch land." We kept swimming all the way and my mom said, "I can touch." I felt real great. We walked all around the island and then swam back to the boat. Divine Love gave me the courage to swim that far. I just realized I could do it and I didn't have to be afraid to try. I also passed my swimming test at the YMCA last summer. I learned that God helps me do everything.

HEATH NORTON
Fostoria, Ohio

Our son was having difficulty passing his swimming test and seemed to lack endurance. He was discouraged and doubtful that he could swim several laps of the pool to pass the test. We talked about God's love for him and how God gives us the ability to do every task that is before us, that He gives us strength and endurance. Heath listened to a cassette tape for children, published by The Christian Science Publishing Society. An article on the tape about swimming was a great help in healing his doubt. I worked and prayed to better understand Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 454), "Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action." Then, as Heath has related, while at the lake he had an opportunity to put his prayer into action.
