Open your eyes to see God's artwork
Perhaps you've had the privilege of watching an artist work. First an idea is sketched. Later, with palette in one hand, paintbrush in the other, he or she makes broad strokes and sweeping impressions. Colors and textures begin to emerge. A mood is created. Perhaps days or weeks later, after continual observation, the artist adds detailed highlights to balance the completed work. It is left to dry.
Where did the painting come from? From the sketch...the canvas...the paint? "The picture is the artist's thought objectified," Science and Health, p. 310. states Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health.
Have you ever stopped to consider that you, too, are a work of art, "the noblest work of God," Christian Science Hymnal, No. 51. as one hymn says? The very first chapter of the Scriptures tells us of the heavenly Artist's idea and accomplishment: "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness....So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Gen. 1:26, 27.
