Healing—a present possibility
When Christ Jesus chose his disciples, he didn't select highly educated, sophisticated people. Some he chose were fishermen. He took these simple, modestly educated men and taught them to heal.
There's a helpful lesson in this for us today. Ask yourself, Why did Jesus choose these humble men of the sea rather than the intelligentsia of his day? Doesn't Jesus' choice show that a person's social background, or how much education he has, is not the most important factor in healing? Honesty, love, faith, receptivity, obedience, constancy—these are the important qualities.
Jesus' choice of disciples should reassure us that healing in Christian Science can be experienced and effected today by simple folk like you and me. Truly! Healing is a divinely natural activity and is happening now, as attested by the thousands of Testimonies that have appeared in the Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal over the years.
