Understand cause and effect, and your prayer will heal!
One of the radiant truths so effective in Christian Science healing is that, contrary to material appearances, all causation belongs to divine Love, Mind. There is a deep reality here that can help all of us, whether our need is for physical wholeness or for the strength and wisdom to cope with troubling complexities in our lives. The practical implications of this truth are touched on in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures where Mary Baker Eddy writes, "Spiritual causation is the one question to be considered, for more than all others spiritual causation relates to human progress." Science and Health, p. 170.
In putting forward the practical uses of spiritual cause and effect, Christian Science follows the footsteps of the great Teacher, Christ Jesus. He demonstrated this truth not only by healing disease through the causative power of Spirit but also by feeding the multitude, stilling the storm, and proving in other ways his dominion over matter. The textbook, Science and Health, states: "Physical causation was put aside from first to last by this original man, Jesus. He knew that the divine Principle, Love, creates and governs all that is real." Ibid., p. 286.
Science shows that all causation belongs to infinite Love or Mind, the divine Principle or Spirit— because God is omnipotence itself. It follows that all things are subject to Mind's intelligent government and law. In saying this, Christian Science plunges much deeper than the ordinary level of material observations. It testifies to that which is absolute and final.
