I have been a student of Christian Science all my life and have...
I have been a student of Christian Science all my life and have had many, many proofs that it heals. I am especially grateful for a healing that took place three years ago. I had been suffering from pain in my foot, ankle, and leg. This situation had existed for a long time (off and on) so that standing and walking had often become difficult and sometimes impossible. The pain interfered with other ordinary movements, too, and had slowed down my usually active pace. During this time I never considered having a medical diagnosis, for I remembered the many healings I had had throughout my life by relying on God in Christian Science.
I had always prided myself on my "youthful" activeness. However, the suggestion sometimes came that when folks reach my age, ailments of this kind are not unusual. I thought, A problem like this is what leads to other so-called old-age troubles. Therefore, I must rouse myself through prayer from this picture of lameness and the belief of aging. I then recalled the following statement in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 201): "The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love."
One Wednesday morning I made up my mind to take the subway into the city to do some errands. The downtown station where I would get off is near a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, which has Wednesday testimony meetings at noon. My plan was to do my errands and get back to the church for this noon service.
