Steadfastness and healing
One thing we learn in Christian Science is that steadfastness is an important ingredient in healing. But how can we gain steadfastness?
In Christian Science, being steadfast doesn't mean exercising a determined mortal will; it doesn't rest on willpower but on spiritual understanding. Nor is it something imposed by any organizational rule. Steadfastness and faith cannot be legislated; they must be felt and known in one's heart, through the prayer and spiritual growth that bring us closer to divine Life, Truth, and Love.
Steadfastness in trusting God's healing power springs from a clear perception and understanding of what God is—His all-power and absolute omnipresence, His universal saving law always at hand. As we come to understand more fully the infinite power and unfailing care of divine Love, we naturally gain stronger trust in God as our source of help and healing. When we know that all the infinite God creates is pure good only, and that this good is the sum total of man's true nature as God's spiritual image, we gain a new insight into the deeper realities of Life that constitute the basis for steadfastness.
