About two years ago a small growth appeared on...
About two years ago a small growth appeared on the inside of my lower lip. At the time, I was working for the summer, teaching swimming to small children. I didn't pay much attention to the condition until one of my young students asked about it. Then I began to affirm the unreality of error and to pray each time the condition came to mind, but seemingly with no results.
In the fall I went back to college and forgot about the problem for the most part—that is, until someone would mention it. A family member who is not a Christian Scientist also observed it and expressed concern.
I kept working quietly, however, reaffirming my identity as a flawless child of God and resisting the temptation to watch or to probe the area. But by the end of the following summer, the growth was quite large. I am grateful to say that I was never fearful about the condition. I looked upon it as a challenging opportunity to use the healing truths of Christian Science I had been learning my whole life, both on my own and through the Christian Science Sunday School. I fully intended to be healed and to learn whatever I needed to from the experience.
