Man—innocent and free!
In Genesis we read that Adam and Eve were sent from the Garden of Eden because they had disobeyed God by eating fruit from the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil. How, then, can Paradise be regained?
The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, gives this promise: "Through discernment of the spiritual opposite of materiality, even the way through Christ, Truth, man will reopen with the key of divine Science the gates of Paradise which human beliefs have closed, and will find himself unfallen, upright, pure, and free, not needing to consult almanacs for the probabilities either of his life or of the weather, not needing to study brainology to learn how much of a man he is." Science and Health, p. 171.
Clearly, to find heaven's ever-presence, we are to repent of the knowledge of evil and know that good alone is real and man's birthright. In this way the individual awakens from the Adam-dream, the illusion that sin, sickness, and death are real and have dominion over him.
