How are you progressing?
Most people think about progress from time to time. Personal progress. Their country's progress. But do we think often enough about spiritual progress?
A Christian Science lecturer once remarked, "The price of progress is spiritual growth." The phrase stuck with me and has meant more as each unfolding day confirms its wisdom. I find it helpful always to view growth and progress spiritually and not to accept as progress the masquerade of mere change.
We see change everywhere. There are constant reports of economic swings; census findings log population growth; polls solemnly relate how certain public figures are gaining (or losing) standing; children stand beside a yardstick to see how much they've grown since the last measurement.
