Praise — the way out of exile

A little girl, a preschooler, was invited to a Sunday afternoon concert. The program was for an adult audience. Whenever the audience applauded, however, the child joined in with great enthusiasm. Those around her were intrigued that such a youngster seemed to enjoy the classical music so much. When the concert was over, someone asked what she liked best. Without a moment's hesitation, the little girl replied, "the clapping."

Oh, to be part of the performance, part of the good that's going on, not left out, not alone! This legitimate desire of the human heart often is answered by learning to applaud, and loving the clapping.

At this very moment, anyone who might be alone and feeling lonely can praise God for His goodness, for His salvation, for His deliverance from evil. Such prayers of praise and affirmation reveal the evidences of His love wherever they are expressed, and include us in them. Far from a psychological ploy, praise to God confirms the Christianly scientific fact that He is good and tangible here and now.
