One day, while thinking through the "Daily Prayer" by Mary Baker Eddy, I asked God that any hypocrisy or deceit in my thought might be revealed to me. The answer was instant. A meeting of the world's leaders was taking place this day, and I was shocked to realize that my attitude toward much of the world news was too often derision, cynicism, and scorn.
I felt near hatred for the leaders of a particular group of people and a low estimate of the course of action proposed by the leaders of my own country. I recognized instantly that this boxed-in, unchristian thinking had to go. How had I let such wasted, enervating thought accumulate?
In the "Daily Prayer" Mrs. Eddy, who discovered and founded Christian Science, instructs us to pray, '"Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!" Manual of The Mother Church, Art. VIII, Sect. 4.
