"Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you" (I Pet. 3:15). This I have been endeavoring to do for over forty-five years, and I have been blessed with many healings during that time.

One such healing occurred some time ago. For a year I had endured a severe pain in my shoulder. Although I'd had Christian Science treatment from a practitioner, the pain persisted. I had been caring for my father in his home one day when I lost my footing and fell, landing on my shoulder. Now the pain was so intense that I could barely use that arm. However, in a few days we went to visit a niece, who assisted me and also cared for my father.

For a week I was in pain day and night. Finally my relatives prevailed on me to see a doctor. (This was a difficult decision for me, as I had not been to a physician in thirty years.) The shoulder was X-rayed and the condition diagnosed as bursitis. I told the doctor I was a Christian Scientist and did not wish to take any medication. He asked me to return in a week. When I did, he said I must be doing something right, since improvement was evident.
