The satisfaction and blessings of conscious worth
Many people do not feel a very strong sense of conscious worth. Some may even be thinking that their lives don't count for much, that they are of little value to themselves, to others, to society. Feelings of worthlessness can also breed apathy, despair, hatred, crime, disease.
Christian Science offers release from the bondage of the misconceptions that portray an individual as useless or worthless. All of God's children are worthy of His grace, blessings, and goodness. His Christ reveals man's real, spiritual value. And as we recognize man's inseparable relationship to God, our lives become more productive, fruitful, helpful, inspiring to others—and truly satisfying.
The teachings of Christian Science provide a radically new perspective of man's worth—a view of real substance that can be gained from no human theory, philosophy, psychological system, or biological approach. Christian Science declares man's eternal worth, the Christly heritage that is the privilege and gift of divine sonship. And even if this declaration may seem contrary to the apparent material evidence around us, the power of divine Truth genuinely uplifts and transforms one's life as the real facts of being are acknowledged and understood. In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes, "Science reverses the false testimony of the physical senses, and by this reversal mortals arrive at the fundamental facts of being." Science and Health, p. 120. These basic facts of reality establish an unshakable foundation for proving our true worth. They are a rock on which to build a life of promise and of service to God. Some of the truths central to the demonstration of one's real value would include the following:
