"Evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power" (Science and Health, p. 330)
"Evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power" (Science and Health, p. 330). A recent experience caused me to prove the truth of this statement by Mrs. Eddy.
One night, as I was parking the car in my garage, someone suddenly grabbed my arms and hands. At first, I had no idea what was taking place. The garage was dark, and I thought that one of the neighborhood boys was being playful. Then I realized the harmful intent of this intruder.
The first things that came to thought were some of the testimonies I had read in our Christian Science periodicals. I tried to think of truths that had helped testifiers who had had similar experiences. I remembered that the twenty-third Psalm had been quoted in one testimony, and I began to say the psalm out loud. I even began to tell the intruder that I knew he did not want to do this. But the man became more aggressive. Then I began to scream that there is only one Mind. This was done repeatedly with an intensity that I had never before expressed. The intruder ceased the attack, left the garage, and disappeared into the night.
