Christian Science has helped me realize that life, as intended by God—Life itself—is really a celebration of His goodness.
I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School at the age of three by my mother, who was deeply thankful she had found a religion which taught that God is good and therefore that man is good—not a miserable sinner. I, in turn, am deeply thankful for the instruction I received there from dedicated Christian Scientists.
My first healing, a result of my own prayers, was of a severe earache. Though I was quite young at the time, I knew the ninety-first Psalm by heart—my brother and I said it every day before going to school. I can still remember the warm feeling I had that day when I began to understand that I was sheltered and protected by God and that therefore no harm could come to me. I was immediately healed, and the problem never recurred.
