Before relating a healing I had through the study...

Before relating a healing I had through the study and practice of Christian Science, I wish to express my gratitude for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. Impelled by her love for mankind, she shared her great discovery, Christian Science, through her writings and established the Christian Science movement as well.

Several years ago a growth appeared on the inside of one of my legs in the groin area. At first I more or less ignored the difficulty, praying about it only occasionally, since the problem did not present any real discomfort. I was not following the admonition of our Leader as recorded in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 390): "When the first symptoms of disease appear, dispute the testimony of the material senses with divine Science." She goes on to say: "Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin."

As time went on, I was more aware of the physical condition, and, correspondingly, the growth became larger and caused discomfort. Mrs. Eddy states on page 420 of Science and Health, "If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them." I finally decided that I had been drifting downstream with the currents of mortal mind long enough. I telephoned a practitioner of Christian Science to ask for help.
