The other nine
We know well the one who returned to thank Christ Jesus. But nine other lepers were also healed. See Luke 17:11–19 . We don't know them so well. I've wondered about them—wished I could just sit down with those men and chat a bit. Why did they fail to return? What could have been so pressing that they failed to see the healing Christ and say a simple thank-you?
I assumed that these were questions the world would never really be able to answer. But that was before I met some of those men early one morning. Well, met them in a unique sort of way. I was studying the account in the Bible, shaking my head in disbelief—with even a bit of self-righteousness—when I was sharply reminded of how the Bible is much more than just a historical record. Its spiritual lessons are penetrating; it provides powerful insight into our own life. That's when I came face to face with some of those nine.
In the preceding day, how many times had the Christ, Truth, touched my life?
