It has been over fifty years now since I became acquainted with Christian Science. During this period I have been marvelously guided by divine Love. My sole physician has been God—the only strength, the only power, and the only real helper in all situations of life.
While I was a prisoner of war during the Second World War, I contracted severe rheumatism in one of my shoulders. I began to walk with quite a stoop, and suffered much pain. At the time, I had only five Christian Science leaflets in my possession, and I studied these in an effort to conquer the problem.
But it was a prayer, a quiet prayer to our heavenly Father, that brought healing. It was not a petition, but a giving of thanks to God for all the good I had already received. A few weeks after this, I was completely well and walked erect again. The difficulty has not returned.
