Dissolving apathy
Apathy violates the law of divine Love. It runs counter to all that Christ Jesus taught, for to be apathetic is to be without compassion or caring, without the response of unselfed love Christianity demands.
One could even argue that apathy breaks the commandment "Thou shalt not kill": Ex. 20:13. it stifles spontaneity, activity, and vitality. It imposes a neglect of spiritual growth. It obscures joy. An apathetic life is a joyless life. Tennyson poetically described such existence in this way:
