Almost sixty years ago my mother was healed of migraine headaches while serving as soloist in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Seeing the joy expressed at that church prompted me to enroll in the Sunday School there, where I continued attending until I was twenty. There I early learned to love the Bible Lessons outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly. Over the years, through Christian Science, I have had healings of pneumonia, arthritis, and sunstroke; and seen business relationships made harmonious.

About two years ago, while crossing a busy intersection in New York City, I was knocked down by a bicycle. On being helped up, I found I could not walk and was in great pain. I was carried to the sidewalk, and there a passer-by asked if she could do something for me. I requested that she go to a nearby office building where I knew there was a Christian Science Reading Room and tell the attendant that a Christian Scientist needed help.

After a short time she returned with a Christian Science practitioner. At my request, the practitioner started praying for me, and in a short time a plan had been worked out to get me to the home of dear friends nearby who were Christian Scientists. I was taken there and put to bed, where I stayed for a week. During this time, the practitioner and I were in touch by telephone every day. The first night I felt my hip shift into place. In about two weeks I was able to walk—at first using a walker around the house and then using a cane. Within five weeks I was walking normally with no pain.
