God's help and the first bike ride
Laura is six. She loves to play outside with her friends. They especially like to skip rope.
One day her best friend, Julie, decided to ride her two-wheeled bike instead of skipping rope. Laura felt bad because she wanted to ride bikes with Julie but didn't know how. Besides, it always seemed so scary when she tried to ride.
Just as Laura was trying again to ride her bike, her mother came outside. Laura's feet kept slipping off the pedals, and the handlebars just would not hold still. Worst of all, the bike kept leaning to one side or the other instead of keeping straight.
