As a child I was extremely shy and fearful
As a child I was extremely shy and fearful. This false sense of self has been healed through Christian Science. As I've recognized my true identity as Spirit's perfect idea, limitations have fallen away and God-given abilities have blossomed forth. This progress has been in keeping with these lines from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 258): "The human capacities are enlarged and perfected in proportion as humanity gains the true conception of man and God."
During my teens I was involved in an accident while riding my motor scooter. I was taken to a hospital, where X-rays showed a broken jaw. I was then released from hospital and sent to a dentist, who recommended the removal of a perfectly sound tooth so that a steel splint could be inserted. He also predicted I would be unable to eat normally for six to eight weeks. The prospect of undergoing such treatment was abhorrent; I declined to accept the dentist's recommendations and refused to believe his predictions. Instead I contacted a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for me. In less than two weeks I was eating normally, and the swelling and pain had disappeared. Later in the year I returned to the dentist for a routine visit. An X-ray taken of my jaw revealed that the break had healed perfectly. How grateful I was for Mrs. Eddy's admonition (Science and Health, p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
Christian Science has been an invaluable help in bringing up my two children. Through the protection afforded by prayer, both have been entirely free from many of the illnesses often associated with young children.
