Law that heals

Zechariah's command that physical sense yield to the power of God—"Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord"^{Zech. 2:13;}—was based on an understanding of divine law. This law was demonstrated by the prophets of the Old Testament, by the most successful of all healers, Christ Jesus, and by the early Christians. Today some Christian churches are reviving spiritual healing. Of these, Christian Science has been the forerunner. It has revealed the Science underlying Jesus' works.

Mrs. Eddy discovered the divine law that heals, and she gives the full statement of this law, Christian Science, in Science and Health. On page 468 she summarizes God's law in "the scientific statement of being": "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."

Obviously, this statement opposes many generally accepted concepts: concepts of matter as substantial, disease as real, man as a mixture of mind and matter, and God as something less than the only Mind and power. "The scientific statement of being" contradicts the material theories that support these false concepts and shows that such laws have no jurisdiction over divine Spirit and God's spiritual, perfect man.
