Healing in a sailboat

Kathy was ecstatic! She'd been longing to go out in a sailboat, and now that was exactly where she was, and enjoying every minute. She'd had fun helping her friend Tim rig the sails, and even the messy job of bailing out the dirty water before they could get under way hedn't dampened her enthusiasm.

Tim was an experienced sailor, and he had skillfully maneuvered his little craft away from the dock and out of the small cove. Now the gentle summer breeze was pushing them along at a steady clip. Kathy thought there could never be anything more perfect than this day.

But they'd been out only a short time when the whole scene changed. Suddenly Kathy began to feel ill over. Sailing wasn't fun anymore. In fact, all she wanted to do was to get out of that boat. But it would take at least twenty minutes to get back to shore. What was she going to do? Even if she told Tim how she felt, there was nothing he could do for her there in the middle of the river. Never before had Kathy been in such a predicament. She couldn't recall ever having felt so afraid and helpless. Silently she cried, "If there was only somebody here who could help me!"
