A little boy and his Goliath
Mark went to the Christian Science Sunday School. Each week the teacher discussed Bible stories with the class. Then they talked about how to apply these stories at home or in school.
Mark had a brand-new bicycle he was very proud of. One day while he was out riding his shiny new bike, two bullies called out to him very unexpectedly. They told him they were going to take away his bike. Although Mark was very afraid, he said sternly, "No, you are not!" Then the boys began trying to grab the handlebars and shouted, "We are going to take your bike." Suddenly Mark remembered a recent Sunday School session on the story of David and Goliath. See I Sam. 17; He stood straight up and shouted at the bullies, "In the name of the Lord, you are not!" Puzzled, they pulled back. One said to the other, "He's a kook," then took off with his friend.
Though Mark was trembling through and through, he returned home still holding his bike and told his mother what had happened. Mark's face was pale, but she could tell he was stronger from having put down error.
