If we make a mistake
There was little doubt in my mind. Surely I had made the right decision. After all, I had prayed quite a bit over the step. But once I had made the decision, there was a tendency to confirm it and hold rigidly to it just because so much prayer had led to my conclusion.
The temptation was to feel that a change would be disloyal to what I was sure God had originally told me. But finally I was led to alter my direction. And the reversal proved right.
When we listen closely for God's guidance, we can expect to discern His spiritual ideas and then feel a growing certainty about the steps we should take. And normally those steps are precisely the ones that will bring the greatest blessings to everyone involved. A pure motive, the honest desire to follow divine impulse, trust in Mind's government—all these factors help us move in the proper direction. God will bring to light the truths of being. We can let those truths guide our steps. And when we know for sure that we are moving rightly, nothing should be permitted to deter us. But we do need to pursue our course with a genuine willingness to continue listening for divine Mind's leadings.
