I have had a wonderful healing solely by reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. At the time of my healing I had known Christian Science barely a year. For fifteen years I had struggled with a severe sight disorder, from which no eye doctor was able to free me. I was told time and again that this was an eye trouble that was inherited and incurable. I had to wear various complicated eyeglasses in alternation, and the condition held me in such bondage that I was filled with the fear of losing my eyesight someday. I didn't dare to read anything, and my only thought was of having to save my eyes.

When Science and Health was loaned to me, I forgot to take my eyes into consideration because I wanted to learn about everything in the book in the shortest possible time before I had to return it. During this assiduous reading I suddenly discovered that I could see more clearly than ever before. Since I felt unable to part with the book, and since at that time the book was not yet for sale in our area, I began to copy it page by page. I had come to page 134 when, completely unexpectedly, I was able to acquire my own copy of Science and Health. That I was spared the work of further copying was to me another proof of divine Love's tender care.

I was able to discard all my eyeglasses when I realized matter cannot dictate laws to me. God is the only lawgiver, and He is good. I found that the state of my seeing was the outward state of my inner thoughts. I am unspeakably grateful to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for unveiling the light of Truth to the world. My gratitude for Christian Science is so great that the most beautiful words cannot fully express it. Only deeds can prove what I feel within. Therefore I constantly endeavor to go higher in the straight and narrow way of Truth, and to grow in spiritual understanding, so as to become a blessing and a light to those who are still living in the darkness of ignorance.
