The Science of Love
Love loves! Divine Love cannot help loving any more than the sun can help shining. This tender love God has for everything He creates was demonstrated in the life and works of Christ Jesus. Centuries later, the same unfailing love with which God enfolds His creation was presented to humanity as a Science—Christian Science, the ever-operative law of divine Love, to which humanity can turn for healing and redemption.
Christ Jesus was so clearly aware of and in such constant conformity with God's nature as Love and His activity as loving that he trusted divine Love to govern every situation that confronted him. His understanding of the fact that the loving Father would not—indeed, could not—for a moment fail His beloved creation enabled Jesus to restore health to the sick and even to free people from the grasp of death. He leaned with complete confidence upon the Father, divine Principle.
The Master proved the reliability of the law of Love at every opportunity; he lived to the full its implications in his own life, and he taught it to his followers. His life and teachings overflowed with it. This law of divine Love is found in Jesus' parables of the prodigal son, the good Samaritan, the sparrows that sold for a farthing, and many more. It is seen in his forgiveness of the adulterous woman. It enabled him to heal instantaneously every conceivable condition from mass hunger, a storm at sea, and dread diseases to the death of one who had lain in the grave four days.
