My mother was introduced to Christian Science about 1910
My mother was introduced to Christian Science about 1910. I was only a young girl at that time. She and a neighbor lady started reading the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly together on Sundays, as there was no Church of Christ, Scientist, in our little town. From this humble beginning they helped to start a Christian Science Society, which led to the founding of a branch church.
I grew up with Christian Science but took it for granted. None of our family ever thought of calling a doctor or having any medicine around. All of our ailments were healed in Christian Science, including the healing of the animals on the farm. We had the prayerful help of a Christian Science practitioner many times.
As the years went on I strayed away from going to church or reading the Bible Lesson. Still, if a serious problem came up, I would get help from a Christian Science practitioner and relied on God for all my needs. I have had several wonderful healings over the years, and I am very grateful.
