I have been a student of Christian Science for many years...
I have been a student of Christian Science for many years, and during this time God has been my only physician. Over the years I have had healings of physical, moral, financial, and personal relations difficulties, as well as of grief, through adhering to the ever-operative, divine Principle, Love.
In recent years two physical healings stand out as beacon lights. One was of a painful, crippling condition in one of my knees, making it extremely difficult for me to rise from a chair, to go up and down stairs, or even to walk normally. The pain was constant. However, I refused to give in to the error of physical disability and decided not to curtail my activities at church or elsewhere. Although prayerful treatment was given me by a Christian Science practitioner and I prayed for myself, the condition persisted.
One morning, feeling quite discouraged, I talked to the practitioner who had been treating me, and we agreed that a change of practitioners would be desirable. I then called my Christian Science teacher for his support. He reminded me it is not a person but God who does the healing, and that I should have more faith in His ability to heal. The Bible says it is the Lord "who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:3). He agreed to pray for me. My thought was so aroused and uplifted by his words and the spirit in which they were conveyed that I expected to be healed immediately. Two days later I was entirely free and without pain, going up and down stairs in a normal way—truly "walking, and leaping, and praising God," as did the man in the Bible account (Acts 3:8). This healing has been permanent.
