The divine rhythm
The word "rhythm" in music has the pleasant connotation of a harmonious, measured flow of sound. When lifted out of the musical context to the broader sense of the rhythm of the universe, the qualities of harmony, order, symmetry, and patterned flow can be seen to characterize Life itself.
Indeed, the divine rhythm of being is a universal, omniactive law of God governing His entire spiritual creation. And this fact is a powerful, healing truth. It lifts us above the false picture of a material universe with everything at sixes and sevens and everyone working at cross-purposes, and enables us to express dominion and harmony in our affairs.
Is this really possible to do? An unparalleled instance is the ministry of Christ Jesus, who always acted in accord with God. The key to Jesus' marvelous career of overcoming discord and limitation was his undaunted conviction of his oneness with the Father as His son. "I and my Father are one," John 10:30; he said. He knew and therefore consistently demonstrated that the Christ—his eternal, spiritual selfhood—was inseparable from the rhythm and harmony of God and that this Christly nature is the true identity of each individual. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health, "Christ illustrates that blending with God, his divine Principle, which gives man dominion over all the earth." Science and Health, p. 316;
