LISTENING
Jesus suffered not the devils to speak. Do we
Firmly refuse to let the devils speak—
Whether in low insinuating tones,
Or like the tempest round a mountain peak?
We do not have to listen to their tones;
The still small voice is all we need to hear.
It has the power to drown all other sounds,
And to the listening ear sound loud and clear.
