Going Higher

What would you think of someone calling himself a ballet dancer, a pianist, a chef, or a computer programmer who had never studied or applied through practice what he had learned? Study and application are essential for progress in most worthwhile activities, and advancement in Christian Science is no exception.

Preparing for advancement is in itself advancing. Preparing for progress in Christian Science is preparing to go higher spiritually, and this preparation—the study and application of the truths of Science—results in more spiritual thinking.

Progress in Christian Science comes from demonstrating the truth of ideal being in daily living. It isn't the result of merely knowing a doctrine. One can't just claim spiritual progress. One demonstrates increased spiritual understanding by a fuller expression of Godlike qualities in thought and action. This fuller expression results in healing—healing of disease, of undesirable character traits, of discord in human relations. And spiritual progress in Christian Science is possible for everyone.
