The verdict was leukemia

The verdict was leukemia. The last medical doctor consulted kindly told my young mother that perhaps Christian Science could help her. She purchased a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and began reading. As she read, she, like thousands of others, was healed through reading this book. She had a full, active life, living to see her children raised and her grandchildren enter college. She had received a glimpse of the Christ and that glimpse healed her. It caused our family to become students of Christian Science.

I shall always be grateful for the groundwork of teaching I received in the Christian Science Sunday School, with its practical application of the truths in the Bible and Science and Health to everyday living. Membership in The Mother Church and the branch church I had attended from childhood helped to broaden and strengthen my gratitude for Church and its healing purpose to take away the sins of the world.

As a child I had frequent colds that sometimes kept me in bed for days. As I grew older, they became less severe, but were just as frequent. Unconsciously, I had accepted the common belief that a cold had to run its course. Then one day I had all of the symptoms, and the suggestion kept coming to me: "This is the same thing that put you to bed as a child." I called a Christian Science practitioner, but he couldn't be reached. In the midst of fear came the thought, "If you were ever a mortal this could be true." With the recognition that I was an immortal child of God came such a sense of joy! I had never been a mortal, nor subject to colds, and could not now have a repetition of something that had never been true of me. By the end of the day all symptoms of the cold had vanished. That was over twenty years ago, and I have been virtually free of that ailment ever since.
