Before the age of fifteen I was a regular pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School. Looking back on that spiritual education, I see it taught me these basic ideas. Our Father-Mother God loves His creation. He is omnipresent divine Mind, Spirit. Every individual may continually know His presence—pray anytime, anywhere. Spiritual healing through scientific prayer, without material means, is natural and the most effective healing method to use.

As a young child I used my lessons from Sunday School to heal. I never suffered from most of the so-called childhood diseases, due to my family's reliance on Christian Science for protection and health. We also were well supplied with ideas when my parents suffered substantial financial crises. We always had the necessities. As a family we were taught to depend on God completely for everything we needed.

At a time of financial problems I was forced to find a job. At first this was a formidable task, especially since I was only fifteen. But through prayer, realizing my primary job was to reflect God, a fantastic job opportunity appeared. I worked for the company for five years with substantial pay raises nearly every year.
