Love's Revolution
With the United States of America celebrating its bicentennial year of independence, we think of those throughout history and in all nations whose intelligence, vision, and courage have helped bring increasing freedom to mankind.
Christ Jesus was without question the greatest liberator of them all. One highly important area in which he rebelled against the general thinking of his times was his teaching that love can and must triumph over hate.
The times in which Jesus lived were characterized by his fellow countrymen's resentment of the Roman occupation of their homeland and the longing to regain their political freedom. In addition, the Jews were split into factions with varying degrees of hostility toward each other.
