The True Psychology of Childraising
A young mother was overheard saying, "So many theories in childraising! One can't possibly read and evaluate them all. What worked for my neighbor isn't helping my children at all. Why isn't there a system that applies to every need?"
There is! This "system"—Christian Science—teaches total reliance on God, Spirit, the creator of man, who is spiritual. Understood and utilized, this Science brings permanent well-being and harmony. We can apply its teachings to every aspect of our lives; we can learn how to pray effectively, how to be better parents.
In general, childraising theories based on human psychology aim to educate parents in understanding a mortal child's point of view and why he behaves in a certain manner. Human psychology deals with the human mind as both cause and cure. It accepts abnormalities as real, attempts to explain them, then may endeavor to change abnormal mentalities into normal ones. Here is where Christian Science lifts thought a long step higher to see and acknowledge the spiritual fact that divine Mind, God, is the only real Mind of man.
