I had had an intestinal problem since I was a child and always took medicine in order to get relief from chronic constipation. As time went on, I met and married a young man who had been studying Christian Science for several years. He told me that students of Christian Science don't take medicine to heal sickness. Instead, they rely on the healing power of the Christ, Truth, which was so convincingly demonstrated by Christ Jesus in his healing works. But I understood little of what he was saying.

At one time I had not had any bowel movement for twenty days. I had a high fever and was in bed three days. I then consented to see a Christian Science practitioner, who explained to me that God is All-in-all—all power and all action—and that therefore disease has no power, no action, no reality. I went home much calmer, and the practitioner continued to pray for me until the next day. By then I rejoiced in a complete healing, and I have been well ever since.

I am very grateful for the practitioner's effective work, and I thank our Father-Mother God for having led me to Christian Science. "Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" (Ps. 107:15.)
