God Directs, Not Human Personality

Christ Jesus once was asked to interfere humanly in a family dispute, but he was too wise and humble to be trapped by this request. He asked, "Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?" Luke 12:14; To Jesus, God was the one Father, the all-loving, all-wise, who "knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." Matt. 6:8; God's will was supreme, His direction of His children never failing, and Jesus' aim always was to point the thought of his listeners to this primal spiritual fact.

Jesus constantly strove to turn others' thought from himself to the healing, guiding presence of the Father, the one all-wise Ego, or I am. When someone addressed him as "good Master," his reply was, "Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God." 19:16, 17;

The master Christian's practice and example set the ethical pattern for a Christian Science practitioner. A study of Jesus' words and works shows one that in the degree he silences self-righteousness and self-importance, his thought progressively becomes a clear transparency for the uplifting, harmonizing light of Truth. A practitioner knows God as the intelligent divine Principle of all being and so will never be tempted through self-will or human reason to mold and shape the lives of those who come to him for help. Rather, he gently leads them to look away from the practitioner to their real Mind, God, and to find their needs met in conscious unity with Him.
