Being: Always Intact in Divine Principle
Soon after one takes up the study of Christian Science, he learns that God is unchanging, always harmonious, perfect. Nothing, he sees, can change God, Principle; so nothing can actually harm man, who is the image, or reflection, of God. He learns that the spiritual, real man, the manifestation of Principle, is immune to discord and evil. He rejoices to see that evil has never been a part of man, for man's being remains forever in God, good.
Jesus said, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matt. 5:48; He would not have said this if we could not do it. Then, we can think of these words of Jesus' not only as a demand but as a promise. He knew each one in his true being to be a perfect son of God.
Through his realization of the unchanging, spiritual nature of man, expressing the perfection of the Father, the Master healed, and dispelled discord. When Christ Jesus said to the crippled man by the pool of Bethesda, "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk," John 5:8; immediately he was strong and well, though he had been incapacitated thirty-eight years. He picked up his bed and walked.
