Spiritual Cultivation
When one first glimpses something of the infinite possibilities of Christian Science, he begins to see that the old habit of adhering blindly to certain religious beliefs because of ethnic tradition or family background won't take one far enough. One becomes a student—a cultivator of demonstrable spirituality—and not a mere believer.
It is obvious that one must do more than just believe in the laws of mathematics. One must study these laws and apply them to solving problems; then they are thoroughly understood and become useful in daily life.
So it is with the Science of Christianity. If this Science is to help us, then, like anything of value, there is a fair price to pay. It's not in coin of the realm, but in a humble willingness to cultivate spiritual understanding—to study, pray, and progressively learn to conform one's life to the divine standard of goodness.
