Heaven Is Ours—Here, Now

Christ Jesus did not teach that heaven is far off. When he sent out his disciples to preach and to heal spiritually, he instructed, "As ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand."^{Matt. 10:7;} We can experience heaven on earth, heaven right here, when we realize that all existence is really spiritual, not material.

In Science and Health Mary Baker Eddy defines "heaven" as "Harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle; spirituality; bliss; the atmosphere of Soul."^{Science and Health, p. 587;}

Reaching heaven is not a matter of going some place. Our first step in attaining heaven is to realize it is at hand right now. To have heaven requires us to progressively awake to the truth that being is spiritual, existent not in mortality but in the perfect consciousness of divine Love, infinite Mind. Heaven is always present because God, divine Principle, is omnipresent.
