When I came to myself some fifteen years ago in a state mental institution, some of the truth taught me in my years in a Christian Science Sunday School sustained me. I do not recall any specific praying, but I do recall the words "Christian Science" came to me. I searched the hospital library for healing articles and the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, but I found only derogatory statements, which confused me.

However, when I reported to the doctor on the case that I had not been taking the required medication, she inquired how I got along. Upon being assured I was fine, she requested I comply with the rules and the dosage would be reduced and eliminated. Within one week I was off medication. I found I had been placed in the hospital following a severe postpartum depression and nervous breakdown. The first awakening was a result of prayer in Christian Science, and I used the truth I did understand.
