I awoke one morning to find myself completely paralyzed from the waist down. As an active young mother and businesswoman I certainly could not afford to be confined to bed. I prayed to know what I had to learn from this experience. I had no fear of the condition. Then it came to me very clearly, "You must gain a better concept of body."

My two children brought the Bible and the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to me. I turned to the following passage and kept on praying until I could feel I had no thought of myself as a physical being (Science and Health, p. 285): "The time has come for a finite conception of the infinite and of a material body as the seat of Mind to give place to a diviner sense of intelligence and its manifestations,—to the better understanding that Science gives of the Supreme Being, or divine Principle, and idea." Soon I felt considerable buoyancy, as well as expectancy of good. I was at peace about everything.

The only place any physical discord can exist is in our own thinking; therefore, as I gained all freedom from any thought that I was immobile, the paralysis left, and I have had no return of this erroneous condition. In a matter of a few hours I was completely healed.
