I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them (Ex. 6:3)
The Revised Standard Version has, "I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty [El Shaddai], but by my name the Lord [the Hebrew consonants are YHWH, probably pronounced Yahweh, but traditionally read Jehovah, and generally represented in the King James Version of the Old Testament by 'Lord'] I did not make myself known to them."
He hath remembered his covenant for ever (Ps. 105:8)
