When I look back over the years, I remember with great gratitude how much Christian Science has meant to me. As a teen-ager I loved the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, and from then on I rarely missed attending them. In this way I came naturally into church membership at the age of twenty.

Then came World War II with its many problems. My husband was overseas on active service, and it was a challenge to bring up a small baby during the periodic bombing of London. However, a verse from the Bible was a constant support: "God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" (I Cor. 10:13). As each problem was solved, another would take its place, but the burden was never overwhelming. In the midst of danger protection was constantly experienced.

When our family emigrated to Canada in 1948, there were many lessons to learn, some of them difficult. The tremendously supporting and protecting promises in the Bible, and in the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, were with us still, and we were protected from making errors of judgment in proportion as we put these truths into practice.
